Kassie

Kassie attends Christopher Newport University where she is majoring in Business Administration and Management and minoring in Leadership Studies. She is available to tutor in basic elementary and middle school math, Algebra I, spelling, reading comprehension, writing, art history, art concepts such as drawing and painting. She has a strongly rooted passion for education and finding better ways for each student to learn for what suits them best. With family members with ADHD and Autism, she can work creatively with a variety of children to keep them concentrated while also being logical and adaptive with different age ranges. Susan  (booked)

Susan has tutored professionally since 2016.  She has a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia and has worked in Information Technology for 20 years.  For 10 years, Susan homeschooled her four children, two of whom are now in college (at VT and JMU). Susan is available to tutor elementary mathematics, pre-algebra, and algebra.  Even though it was a long time ago, Susan still remembers what it was like to struggle with math in school.  So she takes great satisfaction in helping young people crack the math code.  Susan lives with her family in Ashburn.

Colson

Colson is a Middle and High School teacher at Virginia Academy in Ashburn. He has his B.A. in History and is currently working towards his M.A. in History as well. He is a certified teacher who has experience teaching U.S. History for Fairfax county as well as U.S. History, Civics & Economics, & World History for Virginia Academy. Colson has experience working with students ranging from 7th-12th grade and has a passion for working with and building connections with his students.

Amanda 

Amanda is a second grade teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools and has experience teaching and tutoring students in preschool through fourth grade. She completed her B.S. in Elementary Education from Grove City College and is working on her M.S. in the Science of Reading at the University of Virginia. Amanda is passionate about equipping students for reading success through multisensory instruction in literacy including strategic and systematic phonics instruction, phonemic awareness, fluency, and more. Amanda is available for tutoring in elementary subjects and reading support. 

Fenton (booked)

Fenton earned a BA in Mathematics from Agnes Scott College and has been living in Ashburn for over 20 years, enjoying her family, grandchildren, and pets. She home schooled her four sons from kindergarten through high school. All four sons went on to attend and graduate from college. In 2010 she taught Algebra I and 5th grade math at Ambleside School in Herndon. From 2011-2016 she taught 5th grade at Ambleside School. In the summer of 2016 she retired from full time teaching to be a grandmother. Not only does she love teaching, but she also enjoys Bible study, knitting, water colors, colored pencils, and walking her dog. Available in-person. 

Zach

Zach, a lifelong Ashburn resident, has a passion for education and community engagement. He kickstarted his academic journey at Broad Run High School, followed by earning a bachelor’s degree from Shenandoah University's Business School. "My commitment to guiding and supporting others extends beyond academics. For four years, I led a dynamic youth ministry group at my church, fostering growth and leadership skills in young minds. My experience as a junior software developer intern at iWorks honed my problem-solving abilities and technical skills, complementing my love for teaching. Currently, I'm excited about the opportunity to channel my expertise into nurturing young minds in math for grades K-3. I believe in creating an engaging and supportive learning environment where students can thrive. I'm eager to bring my diverse experiences and enthusiasm for teaching to inspire a love for math in young learners."

Caroline

Chris P.

Chris, an Ashburn resident, earned a B.A. from Christendom College in 2009, and an M.A.T. in Secondary Education from Liberty University in 2011. He has experience teaching and tutoring students at the middle school and high school levels for the past ten years. Currently, he is a high school teacher for Loudoun County Public Schools, and tutors middle & high school students. He is available to tutor middle school science, math, English and history, as well as high school algebra I & II, geometry, English, and social studies. He is also available in-person to tutor in test prep for the PSAT and the SAT.  

Aimee

Aimee earned a B.S. Degree from Syracuse University in Exercise Science. She managed health clubs in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in the late 90's. For the last several years, she has served as a substitute teacher for Loudoun Co. Public Schools and founded Broad Run Crew Inc., promoting amateur & competitive rowing at Broad Run High School. She has several years experience working for Ashburn Tutors tutoring children in all subjects and adults with autism. She lives in Ashburn Village with her famil​y.  She can assist with homework help, writing, elementary - middle school subjects. In-person and/or virtual during the day.

Mary Beth  

Mary Beth earned a B.S. in Paralegal Studies and an M.S. in Reading Education from Marywood University. She is currently the director and owner of Ashburn Tutors, LLC.  She served as an elementary and middle school Reading Specialist for Fairfax County Public Schools and the Pocono Mountain School District in Pennsylvania. In addition, Mary Beth was a second grade teacher for the Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Arlington and served as a home-bound instructor for Loudoun County Public Schools.  She has been a private tutor since 1995 and currently tutors full-time. She is available in-person to teach children and adults with reading & learning difficulties, elementary math - algebra, and homework help/study skills. In addition, she conducts homeschool evaluations and reading level assessments. She lives in Ashburn Village. In-person tutoring only.

Halle

Halle is attending Christopher Newport University where she majors in biology and a minor in business. With a true love for math and science, she has spent years peer tutoring middle and high school students. Her expertise ranges from algebra 1 and geometry through AP statistics 1 and calculus. She is also happy to tutor most middle and high school science and English. Since sixth grade she has spent hours teaching herself different subjects and, most importantly, figuring out what she doesn’t know. Her biggest struggle, and now biggest strength, is being able to pinpoint problems and work to fix them. She enjoys instilling the same confidence in the students she tutors. Available virtually.

Isabella (booked)

Isabella  received her Law Degree from the Universidad de la Sabana in Bogota and a Master of Law in Comparative Law form the University of Miami. She is from Bogota, Colombia and has lived in the United States for twenty-one years.  She previously worked at Law firms in San Juan, Puerto Rico and in Washington, DC. Isabella stopped working to care for her growing family but stayed involved in her community.  For the last eight years she has homeschooled her four children, and is currently homeschooling her two youngest. She has taught elementary and middle school children as a volunteer for the Diocese of Bogotá, Miami and Arlington for over thirty years, and has been teaching for her homeschool co-op for three years. She is fluent in Spanish and English. Isabella lives with her family in Arcola, VA. She is available in-person to tutor elementary and middle school age students who require homework assistance.  

Dave 

Dave earned a B.A. from Norwich University, an M.S. in Reading Education, and post-graduate certification in Learning Disabilities from Marywood University. He was a Title 1 Remedial Reading Specialist for public schools in Pennsylvania and has served as a learning disabilities teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools and the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Arlington. In addition, he was a home-bound instructor for Loudoun County Public Schools. Dave has been a private tutor since 1996, owns Ashburn Tutors, LLC and Leesburg Tutors, and currently tutors full-time. Uma 

Uma is a junior at New York University, majoring in Psychology with minors in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Studies and Anthropology. She is available to tutor in Science and Biology, Math, Statistics, Psychology, English, College Application Essays, writing, study skills/organizations, reading assessments, American Sign Language, and Italian. As a lifelong resident of the Ashburn area, she is available to provide virtual tutoring during summer and throughout the school year. With a passion for education and a commitment to student success, Uma can create a nurturing environment where learning becomes enjoyable and helps unlock your child's full potential. Chris R. (booked)

Chris earned a BA in Mathematics from Rutgers University in 1985, and an MS in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990. He has  experience tutoring adult students in Algebra I and II at the
Fairfax County Adult High school for several years. He has been a software engineer for almost forty years, and currently lives in Leesburg. Chris strongly believes
in developing a solid skill set to lay the groundwork for success. Chris is available in person to help middle school students, high school students, or adult students with Algebra, Calculus, Geometry,
English, or Computer Science. He is also available to help with test preparation for the PSAT, SAT or GRE. 

Adam 

Adam earned a B.S. in Mathematics major from George Mason University.  Adam's teaching background first began developing during his time as an algebra II teaching assistant in high school.  He currently owns Fairfax Tutors. Since then, he has worked a year and a half at Mathnasium, teaching various topics to students ranging from early elementary school to late high school, and he has been professionally tutoring mathematics since November 2021.  Adam is incredibly passionate about mathematics and loves helping his students to see the "why" of how things work when teaching.

Angela

Angela taught 4th grade for Loudoun County Public Schools for six years. She has experience tutoring students in all subjects in third through fifth grade. She completed her B.S. in Elementary Education from Liberty University. Angela loves teaching and is passionate about helping each student reach their full potential, while enjoying the learning process. She is available to tutor elementary students in the areas of math, reading comprehension, science, history, and writing. She can also assist with homework assignments.

Megann

Megann is a senior at Liberty University, graduating early in December of 2023, with a BA in Psychology and a specialization in life coaching. Megann next plans to earn her MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, Megann works as a registered behavior technician, implementing skill acquisition programs and helping to degree maladaptive behaviors in children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In Megann’s free time, she volunteers at Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg as a special needs volunteer, teaching lesson plans regarding the word of God to children. Megann has a passion for all things intellectual, currently running a successful advice podcast and writing a motivational book.
