Ashburn Tutor Biographies
Aimee earned a B.S. Degree from Syracuse University in Exercise Science. She managed health clubs in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in the late 90's. For the last several years, she has served as a substitute teacher for Loudoun Co. Public Schools and founded Broad Run Crew Inc., promoting amateur & competitive rowing at Broad Run High School. Additionally, every September in Herndon, VA, Aimee directs the Tri4Love Triathlon, a USAT sanctioned event, to help support medical expenses for her daughter, Taylor Love, a two-time cancer survivor, now 13 years old, and bring
awareness and action to this much neglected childhood disease (www.TaylorLove.org). Aimee is available to tutor elementary-aged students. She lives in Ashburn Village with her family.
Meghan received her Bachelor's degree in English and Master's degree in Secondary Education from James Madison University in 2014. She is certified to teach students in grades 6-12, but has also worked in a preschool and as a substitute in elementary schools. She worked as a contracted teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools for 2 1/2 years where she taught middle school English. She taught students with a variety of special needs, as well as ESL students. After working for FCPS, she pursued an opportunity to teach abroad in Madrid, Spain in 2017. There, she taught ESL students ranging from beginner to advanced students in small group or one-to-one classes. Her biggest strengths as a teacher are her ability to create engaging lesson materials and games to promote interactive learning, as well as scaffolding lesson material to fit the level of the student. She loves working with her students to identify areas of strength and weakness, and make progress in achieving their goals.
Olia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics - English and German Languages from the Zaporizhzhya Institute of Economics and Information Technologies (Faculty of Foreign Philology). She is fluent in English, Russian, and Ukrainian. Olia served as an English Interpreter and translator for Motor Sich, a Ukrainian airline based in Zaporizhia, Ukraine, translating technical documents from Russian to English. She has experience in verbal and document translations. In addition, she served as a tutor for young Ukrainian elementary-aged students. She is available to tutor high school students and adults in Conversational Russian or Ukrainian via Skype. Olia currently lives in Washington, D.C.
Olivia received her B.S. in Social Science from Radford University. She is a 9th Grade Pre-AP and Academic World History I Teacher at Riverside High School. She is a certified teacher in Social Science grades 6-12, but she is also available to tutor elementary through high school students who struggle in other subject areas. Olivia has grown up in Loudoun County her whole life and loves the community here. Her strengths are teaching students organization, Social Sciences, Reading, and Writing. She loves setting goals with students and helping them become most successful in the classroom. She lives in Leesburg.
Ginny received her B.A. in Psychology from Taylor University, her M.A. in Counseling from Liberty University, and certification in School Counseling at City University of Seattle. She worked for four years at Princeton University in Graduate Admissions and the department of Computing and Information Technology. She also worked for two years in the Tacoma Public Schools’ College Bound program assisting middle school students in math, English, writing, and study skills. For the past three years, she has been tutoring students in math, English, reading comprehension, writing, and organization. Ginny has homeschooled her children for ten years, grades K-12. She loves helping children learn, grow in confidence, and overcome academic challenges. She lives in Potomac Falls with her husband and two children.
Cathy began her B.A. in English at the State University of New York and continued through Fordham and George Mason Universities. She is a DMV-certified driving instructor and helps with the administrative side of her husband's company, Ashburn Driving School. She is currently authoring, "What's the Difference: The God-Given Gifts of Masculinity and Femininity", she blogs about relationships at whatsthedifference4988.blogspot.com, and she counsels in marriage, parenting, and family life, using the Love and Logic Institute program. She home-schooled her own children, has tutored privately for many years, and is available for all elementary-level subjects, and middle school and secondary-level Language Arts. Cathy lives in Ashburn Farm with her family.
Isabella received her Law Degree from the Universidad de la Sabana in Bogota and a Master of Law in Comparative Law form the University of Miami. She is from Bogota, Colombia and has lived in the United States for twenty-one years. She previously worked at Law firms in San Juan, Puerto Rico and in Washington, DC. Isabella stopped working to care for her growing family but stayed involved in her community. For the last eight years she has homeschooled her four children, and is currently homeschooling her two youngest. She has taught elementary and middle school children as a volunteer for the Diocese of Bogotá, Miami and Arlington for over thirty years, and has been teaching for her homeschool co-op for three years. She is fluent in Spanish and English. She is available to tutor elementary and middle school age students who require homework assistance. Isabella lives with her family in Arcola, VA.
Ashley earned a B.A in History at the University of Dallas and was also certified in Elementary Education in the state of Texas. She was a 4th grade teacher in the Diocese of Arlington and also has experience homeschooling her son. Her strengths are teaching English, writing, reading, history, math, and organizational skills to elementary and middle school students. Ashley lives with her husband and four children in Sterling, VA.
Susan has a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia. She has worked in Information Technology Service Management, supporting various government agencies, for several years. Susan has been homeschooling her four children for the past 7 years. Her teaching experience also includes Sunday school and homeschool co-ops. Susan is available to tutor elementary mathematics, pre-algebra, and algebra. Even though it was a long time ago, Susan still remembers what it was like to struggle with math in school. Now that she "gets it," she enjoys helping young people crack the math code. Susan lives with her family in Ashburn.
Judy received her B.A. degree from the University of Maryland with a major in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. She previously worked for a major airline as a training instructor, a sales representative and as an account manager. As a training instructor she was responsible for individual employee development and the ongoing training of employees. Upon retirement, she brought these skills to Loudoun County Public Schools as a substitute teacher. For three years she worked with elementary, middle and high school students in a variety of subjects including ESL. Her strengths are teaching organization, written and oral presentation skills, building confidence and motivation. Her subject area strengths are English, Reading, Writing, Social Studies and college essays. She is very familiar in working with individual education plans and using them to achieve successful results. She lives in Ashburn with her husband and where they raised both of their sons.
Shane has a B.S. and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Penn State University. He is an experienced Math and Science college professor who started tutoring K-12 students more than 10 years ago. Shane is available to tutor elementary through high school age students who struggle with Math and Science curriculum of all levels.
Kinga earned a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from East Central University. She is working on an M.S. degree in Secondary Education Mathematics at George Mason University. She is available to tutor middle and high school students in all math subjects. She has been a Java Developer for 12 years and she can help with programming as well. Kinga lives with her family in Ashburn, VA.
Mary earned a B.A. in Journalism from Penn State and works as a freelance writer and editor for newspapers, magazines, websites and corporate communication materials. She is available to tutor elementary school students in all subjects and to help older students with writing projects and college essays. She serves on the board of a local nonprofit where she enjoys helping high school students find meaningful community service projects throughout Loudoun County. The mother of two college students, Mary lives in River Creek.
Mary Beth earned a B.S. in Paralegal Studies and an M.S. in Reading Education from Marywood University. She is currently the director and owner of Ashburn Tutors, LLC. She was an elementary and middle school Reading Specialist for Fairfax County Public Schools and the Pocono Mountain School District in Pennsylvania. In addition, Mary Beth was a second grade teacher for the Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Arlington and served as a home-bound instructor for Loudoun County Public Schools. She has been a private tutor since 1995. She currently tutors full-time, conducts homeschool evaluations, and reading level assessments. She lives in Ashburn Village.
Dave earned a B.A. from Norwich University, an M.S. in Reading Education, and post-graduate certification in Learning Disabilities from Marywood University. He was a Title 1 Remedial Reading Specialist for public schools in Pennsylvania and has served as a learning disabilities teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools and the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Arlington. In addition, he was a home-bound instructor for Loudoun County Public Schools. Dave has been a private tutor since 1996, owns Ashburn Tutors, LLC and Leesburg Tutors, and currently tutors full-time.
